A Work in Progress...

Earlier this year, we broke ground on a half million dollar back yard project. The scope of work included a water slide with boulders, waterfalls, and a covered pavilion with an outdoor kitchen/dining area. There's a separate lagoon lounge bifurcated from the pool by a footbridge. As my project manager explained to our client the day we started construction, "This isn't just a project; this is a work of art."

Since that day, we've had numerous change orders (additions, reductions, redesigns). The project has seemingly taken on a life of its own. But a work of art takes time. It requires thoughtful consideration, and yes - sometimes adjustments to the plan. A work of art is a work in progress.

We are each like our own endeavors: A work in progress, and hopefully one day a work of art that was worth the wait.

Like many others around this time of year, I will pause and reflect back on the previous twelve months. What resolutions did I bring into fruition? Which ones did I not? In short: What worked, and what didn't work this year? And how can I adjust in a positive manner moving forward. Our lives are a lot like these projects. We seek to be an improved version of ourselves each day knowing that we will have to make adjustments and tweaks along the way. But this adversity forges a more refined product in the end.
