This will be my first post! Let's talk about what I do and the purpose of this site.

When I first decided to create this website, the idea was to create an easy and effective way to share my experience and project background as a professional landscape architect. Ever since college, creating and updating a portfolio has proven to be a cumbersome task. Updating InDesign documents and PDFs takes a lot of time and can yield massive files that can't even be sent over an email or text message. Don't get me started on how much money I use to spend when I would print hard copies of my portfolio...
There needs to be larger meaning as to why you make any design decision. Every decision is influenced by aesthetics, yes; but also by function, budget, user needs, and above all else - safety.
As I began to look back on previous portfolios and the current projects that I am working on, I began to realize that any designer's body of work is ever expanding. Certainly what I may have featured in my college portfolio would not still be a feature project today. But is there still a place to archive my work? Is there a way that I could illustrate the steps within my journey?
As a landscape architect, I feel that my design process must have an origin of purpose. It must have intent - hence this website's title, "The Intentive Design". It is not enough to simply create visually stunning designs because it "looks great". There needs to be larger meaning as to why you make any design decision. Every decision is influenced by aesthetics, yes; but also by function, budget, user needs, and above all else - safety. Just as the design process includes several steps that influence the designer's journey, so will this website document and illustrate my path as a landscape architect.
Featured Projects on this site will be updated as certain designs are constructed and documented. These will serve as a more traditional showcasing of projects. This blog is where I intend to showcase any all things related to landscape architecture while also providing a more personal narrative behind each endeavor. Thank you so much for reading this far and I hope you enjoy the site!
